LINDA TREMBLAY

Linda Tremblay was born and raised in northern Alberta, Canada, with French as her mother tongue. Linda's journey took her to Toronto, where she studied computer animation at the Academy of Animation and Design, followed by stops in Hawaii, Australia, and finally, Los Angeles. Each region has enriched her artistic vision, influencing her use of color and culture in both her personal and professional work.

For nearly 30 years, Linda has worked as a visual effects artist on major blockbuster films, including The Matrix, Pirates of the Caribbean, Transformers, The Hangover, and X-Men franchises, earning her an Emmy nomination along the way. In addition to her success in film, Linda has always balanced her visual effects career with a love for painting, using both mediums to explore her deep connection with color and form.

Linda’s fine art is an intuitive expression of self-expansion, contemplation, and uplifting energy, inspired by nature, meditation, and her curiosity for all things mystical. She loves working with random materials and has a curiosity of found objects, old books, yellowed papers and the smells associated with. Collectively, these create a patina, mirroring for Linda an embracing of patina in life. Her mother’s influence as a seamstress introduced her to various materials since early childhood, including the perfect imperfection of linen, which she uses, along with wood, as her substrate today. Her mom also ran the local ceramics studio, another influence on Linda’s creative spirit. Living the first few years of her life at her grandfather's lumber mill, where her whole family worked, filled with the scent of fresh-cut lumber, served as an additional source of inspiration.

Linda’s process is grounded in the earth, making her work a unique blend of tactile materials and spiritual resonance. Working in the dirt has given her a passion for the pure pigments of pastels. Geometric forms also play an important role in Linda’s work, as she understands them as the building blocks of matter—"energetic signatures"—a setting forth of energetic patterns of frequency.

During the last 35 years as an artist I’ve accumulated various objects and surfaces.  Some surfaces remain in the raw, some become paintings and others morph into a collection of paintings layered one atop another, somewhat of a hidden ‘parallel lives’ nature.

L Reveal is such a piece. It has journeyed with me since my days of living at The Brewery Art Colony in Los Angeles, circa 2010.

From what I can recall there have been about 5 ‘paintings’ generated on this one piece over the years. Two on the wood surface and three on the linen, the linen side will now be a forever mystery.

Recently, during the actor and writers strikes, when the motion picture industry came to an abrupt halt (I have also been working in the film industry for the last 28 years), I dedicated even more time to my art. That’s when L Reveal was uncovered.

It was a time of fragile silence that became the catalyst to uncovering and allowing my true voice to come forward.

I had the surreal experience of revealing myself to myself.....silver linings.
